Telling Tails — Sunday vs Collingbourne [A]
It was a cloudy, dull, overcast grey day and on an uneven, sloped pitch! It had some juice on it.
We won the toss & decided to bowl as Warwick was stuck in his Mustang somewhere south of Marlborough.
We welcomed back Si Smith after a while on the sidelines.
Will was chosen randomly for double points (44). Well done. I think he is the most excited player to receive my points 👉.
I opened the bowling, but the poor first 3 overs got them away it was 40 for none, but I changed to around the wicket and got my line & length back (not a pocket sausage in sight). I took a caught & bowled diving like Peter Shilton to make the catch! Then I took another clean bowled.
Warwick then managed to get out of his car to bowl a fine display without any luck.
To follow was Will and Sean (who was OUTSTANDING with his spell 👏) then Richard, who took 3 wickets and kept the oppo at bay 184 total to chase.
So we had tea, lovely it was.
Warwick & Richard put on 27. Warwick went on to hit a very good score followed by Charlie, Dobbo and Will. I followed up the rear! Not literally? Not out 5 amd with Sean, the too oldies at the end did what we could.
Couldn't make it we lost by 30 runs (ish).
But in all a great afternoon with great company once again thanks to Laurie for stepping in to help the team out.
We head on to next week away. Please keep those replies coming… 4 games to go to find out who will be crowned the WINNER 🏆 of scores on the doors 2025.
[Thanks Al for the match report]
